GP Referred Clients
Medicare Australia provides rebates for psychological services via their Better Access program. To access these rebates clients must first be referred by a medical practitioner (i.e. GP or Psychiatrist).
Clients should initially discuss their mental health concerns with their GP or Psychiatrist and if your medical practitioner agrees that you would benefit from psychotherapy he / she is required to complete a Mental Health Care Plan (Hint: Ask your GP to complete an Item No. 2700, 2701, 2715 or 2717, depending on time taken to complete the Plan).
Clients will be required to bring along a copy of their Mental Health Care Plan and a letter of referral addressed to a JDA psychologist at their first session of psychotherapy.
For holders of a Pension Card or Health Care Card, all sessions of psychotherapy will be "Bulk-Billed" at no cost to the client. Non-holders of a Pension / Health Care Card will be required to pay the full fee at the end of each session via Cash, Cheque, EFTPOS, or Credit Card (currently $150 per 50 minute session). Non-holders of a Pension / Health Care Card are entitled to a rebate (current rebate is $124.50). Therefore an out-of-pocket expense of $25.50 per session will apply for non-holders of a Pension / Health Care Card.
(Note: If your bank account details are registered with Medicare (recommended) JDA administration staff can claim your rebate for you (currently $124.50). The rebate will be deposited back into your account within 24 hours).
